The biggest moves often happen before most people feel comfortable investing.

One of the biggest misconceptions in investing is believing something significant has to change before the market can move.

Many investors wait for:

• interest rates to fall
• stronger economic data
• better headlines
• less uncertainty
• or one big event that finally gives them confidence

The problem is…

Markets don’t need those things to happen before moving higher.

Interest rates don’t have to change dramatically.

The economy doesn’t have to suddenly improve.

Geopolitical uncertainty doesn’t have to disappear.

In fact, some of the biggest moves in the market happen while many of the same concerns still exist.

After following the market every day for more than 23 years, one lesson has stood out to me:

The market doesn’t wait for the story to become obvious.

That’s why we don’t spend our time trying to predict exactly when the next rally will begin.

Instead, we focus on being invested in what we believe are the strongest areas of the market so that when the move happens, we’re already there.

Because successful investing isn’t about perfectly predicting the future.

It’s about putting yourself in a position to benefit when the market does what it often does—move before most people expect it.
